This course is for students who want to tell stories and express themselves through drama, comedy, non-fiction and formatted genres. Immerse yourself in the multi-disciplinary world of modern television content creation, from traditional linear TV to multi-platform content. Although the ways in which consume, shape and interact with the medium are changing, the core skills of good storytelling remain.

What will I do?

Gain a broad technical and multi-platform media education
Learn practical production skills in single and multi-camera television and mixed media content creation
Get a thorough understanding of the modern media landscape
Specialise in particular discipline areas including: production/direction, camera and sound, or post production (Year 3)
Gain an industry-standard level of training in single camera factual television, documentary, and multi-camera environments
Learn all modern online, emerging and traditional distribution modes
Learn to be socially conscious and curious about the world and issues that affect people
Learn multiple forms of storytelling, multiple media, and the different techniques required by modern content creators
Work industry placement takes place in Year 3 and informally throughout the four years
In year 2 & 3 opportunities to study abroad exist through our Erasmus Programme

What will I be able to do when I graduate?

The programme is distinguished from others in this area by its focus on a synthesis between all media and a professional learning environment modelled on simulated real-world experiences. Professional pathways exist in the audio-visual, web and screen industries. Graduate employment opportunities exist in: television, online content providers; the broadcast media; advertisement agencies; production facilities; company in house production facilities; and corporate and state bodies.

Pathways for taught and by research postgraduate programmes in film and screen arts include: MA in Screenwriting, MA in Creative Production + Screen Finance, Viewfinder international Joint MA in Cinematography and KinoEyes international Joint MA in Filmmaking.
